Flooka is a Libyan clothing brand that represents art, history, quality and a journey. The word Flooka is of Arabic origin meaning ‘turquoise’, symbolizing beauty, tranquility, and protection. Libyans also use this word to describe the small fisherman’s boat.
LIBYA & THE TUAREG
Libya is a country that sits in between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert. There are many harbors in the Libyan coast where Libyans like to fish. In another sense, Flooka can be used as a metaphor for a camel, which people describe as the ship/boat of the desert. These parts of Libya are dwelled by the Tuareg, a Berber ethnic group who inhabit the Sahara.
